Mollie Payments

Mollie is a Dutch payment service for iDEAL, cards, Bancontact, SEPA and more. Brewless does not set it up: it is a key and a webhook, and this is how they fit on serverless containers.

By Mollie, the Netherlands. Brewless does not set this up; this page shows how to wire it up.

What Brewless does

The key in your Secret Manager

brewless env:push writes MOLLIE_KEY into your own Secret Manager. Brewless keeps the name and a checksum, never the value.

Webhooks wake the container

Mollie posts its webhooks to your domain. A POST is never kept at the edge, so it reaches your container, which starts if it was asleep.

No hop in between

Payments and webhooks go between Mollie, the visitor and your containers. Brewless is not in that path.

The same key per environment

Each environment has its own variables, so test keys stay in staging and live keys in production.

What you do

  1. Add mollie/laravel-mollie to your application.
  2. Push MOLLIE_KEY with brewless env:push, a test key in staging and a live key in production.
  3. Leave the webhook route out of the CSRF check, and give Mollie its full address on your domain.

In your project

# .env, pushed with brewless env:push production
MOLLIE_KEY=live_…

Questions

Does a webhook get lost while the container sleeps?
No. The request starts the container and waits for it, and Mollie tries a webhook again when it does not get an answer it accepts.
Does Brewless use Mollie itself?
Yes, Brewless takes its own subscriptions through Mollie. That has no influence on how your application uses it.
